Current Repairs

Phase II of our Repairs and Restoration Works have been completed









We are pleased to be able to announce that work has now been completed on Phase II of our repair and restoration project.

Having carried major works in 2012 which included pointing the wall, repairing the window in the west wall, carry out extensive improvements to our roof structures and replacement of rainwater goods the current phase has seen the following works carried out:

  • concrete repairs to the string courses and other features
    around the elevations- locations as shown on drawings.
  • localised areas of repointing to brickwork around the
    elevations – locations as shown on drawings.
  • Lift and retile the lady chapel roof, renew the parapet gutters in a combination of mastic asphalt and stainless steel sheet. Repoint the inside faces of the parapets.
  • Complete renewals of rainwater goods
  • Conserve leaded glazing to the east apse/ lady chapel and the north and south quadrant.
  • Renew acrylic sheet protection.
  • Replace the leaded glazing to the north and south aisles and transepts in a new arrangement incorporating the existing yellow glass and new hand made clear glass.
  • Renew acrylic sheet protection.


Funding from the current phase of work has come from English Heritage, National Churches Trust, Leeds Church Extension Society and our Diocesan Building Fund. We are extremely grateful to these bodies for enabling us to undertake the much needed works.
